Smooth Leather - All styles denoted simply as "leather" have the classic smooth finish.

Suede - Chosen from select hides, this soft, thick-napped leather is exceptionally comfortable.

Nubuck - Quality leather that's buffed for a soft velvety finish.

Waxy - A waxy finish is applied to buffed leather resulting in this fashionable distressed look.

A variety of materials are used to design Birkenstock Footwear. These materials are used in the Synthetic and Alternatives Lines

Smooth Birko-Flor - made of acrylic and polyamide felt fibers, Birko-Flor is a soft fabric made with a smooth leather-like finish. It easily accepts intricate textures and patterns.

Birkibuc - Made of the same Birko-Flor material, Birkibuc offers a textured finish that looks and feels like soft, velvety nubuck.
